Hilo

Hilo is a proactive AI agent that lives in your channels — WhatsApp above all. Connect it to your tools and it manages them for you, including complex ones like WhatsApp groups. Everything you delegate becomes a thread — Hilo picks it up, remembers the context, acts, and comes back only when there’s something to decide.

Pick up the thread.

Use the two-color lockups whenever possible. Monochrome is for engraving, embossing, single-color print, and strict co-brand bars.

Animated reveal

Hilo mark drawing itself with a gradient stroke Hilo mark drawing itself in brand purple

The thread draws itself once along its natural construction direction — starting at the top-right loop, through the stems, crossbars, and every loop — with ease-in-out timing (2 s at 60 fps), then settles and holds on the finished lockup. Two color treatments, both strictly on-palette: the thread-gradient reveal — Hilo Purple → Blue → Teal at 135°, the brand’s own gradient, for hero moments where the thread literally appears — and the Hilo Purple reveal for email signatures, docs, and anywhere the accent should stay quiet. The master is Lottie (logo/hilo-mark-reveal.json, transparent background, geometry identical to the SVG mark) for web and apps; the GIFs (hilo-mark-reveal.gif, hilo-icon-animated.gif) are the email-safe derivatives and open on the finished mark so clients that freeze GIFs never show a blank. Play it once per surface — the reveal is an entrance, not a loader.

  • Do
  • Upload the gradient icon full-bleed — it already has the right internal margin.
  • Keep one identical avatar across every network for instant recognition.
  • Pair it with the display name “Hilo” and the thread tagline.
  • Don’t
  • Don’t use the flat mark on white as an avatar — it disappears on light UIs.
  • Don’t add padding, a border, or shrink the mark; don’t swap the gradient for a photo.
  • Don’t recolor the gradient or set the mark in Blue or Teal.

HDR icon — brighter than white

Hilo HDR icon — glows on HDR displays
An ordinary 8-bit PNG carrying a Rec. 2020 + PQ ICC profile — the encoding of HDR video. On Apple’s EDR displays (MacBook Pro XDR, recent iPhones) the browser honors the profile and renders the icon brighter than white; on SDR screens it tone-maps down and just looks normal. A progressive-enhancement glow for hero moments — never a replacement for the standard avatar.

Spacing — the loop is the unit

gap = 1 loop clear space = 1 loop

One module spaces everything: the loop — the ink width of a single knot loop (0.377 × mark height). The gap between mark and wordmark holds exactly one loop, so the lockup keeps the knot’s own rhythm; that width also matches the advance of the lowercase “i” within 4%, so the gap reads as one silent letter-space of the word itself — tight enough to bind, wide enough that the knot never reads as a first letter. Clear space is the same module: ≥ 1 loop on all sides, for the lockup and the standalone icon alike.

Minimum sizes

Lockup≥ 110 px wide (≈ 32 px tall) · print ≥ 30 mm — below this, switch to the icon

Typography

Interface & body · Inter

Inter Bold — section titles, buttons

Inter Semibold — labels, emphasis

Inter Regular — body copy. Strong, clean, and highly readable. The serif wordmark adds character and trust; Inter keeps the product fast and legible.

Iconography

Product icons follow the mark’s drawing logic: single stroke weight (2.3 on a 30-unit grid ≈ 1.5 px at 20 px), rounded caps and joins, elliptical rather than perfectly round counters, friendly and modern. Draw icons as strokes, never filled shapes, so they sit naturally next to the knot.

Voice & tone — calm intelligence

Hilo talks like someone who has everything under control, and therefore doesn’t need to raise their voice. It promises relief, not amazement — and then proves it. Full guide: BRAND_TONE_OF_VOICE.md · design tokens for agents: DESIGN.md.

Precise

Says exactly what it did. No filler.

Warm

Human, not soft. Close, without the syrup.

Assured

Knows its stuff. Without arrogance.

Understated

Editorial, not corporate. No noise.

Honest

Shows before it claims. Zero smoke.

1 · Verbs before adjectives“I sent the email” beats “intelligent solutions”. Verbs are evidence; adjectives are claims.
2 · One idea per sentenceShort sentences, conversational rhythm. The full stop is a brand asset.
3 · Concrete over abstractThursday, 10:00, the email from Nilo. Real details prove it understands.
4 · Clear first, then beautifulThe thread metaphor never eats comprehension. Clarity wins every tie.
  • Sounds like
  • “Done. I’ll flag you if there’s a decision to make.”
  • “I pick up where you left off.”
  • “The important stuff doesn’t get lost inside an app. It gets lost between them.”
  • Never sounds like
  • “Supercharge your workflow with disruptive AI!”
  • “Your all-in-one intelligent assistant!”
  • “A 360º integrated productivity ecosystem.”
Confirm in the past tense“Done”, “Sent”, “Scheduled” — the work already happened.
Interrupt only to decideSilence is a feature. Every notification spends trust.
No exclamation marksEver, in UI. One emoji only where the channel calls for it.

In English copy, thread always closes with (Hilo) — the word is common, so the brand claims it. And a hard rule from the identity manual: never position Hilo as a meeting note-taker. Meetings are a door, not the product — Hilo is the agent that manages your tools and channels end to end.
